Whatta Butte

Steptoe Butte rises above the rolling hills, prairies, and wheat fields of the Palouse region. In the legends of the Palouse Indians, the mountain is a sacred home to the "Bull Elk," who crowned the peak with his mighty antlers.

The mountain was also a destination for those on a spirit quest, and I can see why. Standing here at sunrise, it’s mesmerizing to watch the light and shadows flow over the vistas and stir them to life, like ocean waves. My spirit was moved by the land, light, and colors of Mother Nature.
