Lake Trillium Dreams

“If you want to see what the fog hides in itself, don't wait for the fog to disperse! Instead of waiting for something to happen in this short life, do something immediately! Enter the fog!” —Mehmet Murat ildan

On Mt. Hood, we had stayed up until 3am shooting the night sky. Just a couple of hours later into a nap, the alarm went off — it was time to go out and shoot the sunrise. As much as we wanted to go back to sleep, we were also excited to see what the morning light would bring to Trillium Lake and its majestic view of Mt. Hood. Groggy and cold, Ken and I rolled out of the campervan and walked to the lake. In contrast to the previous day when the lake was busy with people and loud ducks, it was just us and so perfectly quiet and calm. As I was getting mesmerized by the fog flowing across the lake, a lone fisherman appeared in the water. The scene was so dreamy, I actually wondered for a moment if I was still asleep and just dreaming.
